Not many believed that Luke Campbell would be able to dethrone the king that is Vasyl Lomachenko, but now that the inevitable has happened, where does Luke Campbell go from here.

Suffering his first loss to Yvan Mendy in 2015, critics started to question whether Luke Campbell would be able to succeed at the top level. Campbell’s first world title challenge also ended in defeat against Jorge Linares back in 2017.

If Luke Campbell is to reign at the top level one would assume that Campbell will need to find another level. At the age of 31 time is still on his side and with Matchroom Sports behind him, perhaps there will be one more opportunity to attack the other remaining champion in the division.

Richard Commey is the current IBF Lightweight Champion, winning the vacant title in February 2019.  The 32 year old Ghanaian has had two losses from 31 professional fights with 26 victories coming by way of knockout.

Luke Campbell also has the option of moving up a division to Light-Welterweight, however with the likes of Scotland’s Josh Taylor and Americans Regis Prograis and Jose Ramirez currently running the division, this may not be a viable option for the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.
