Amir Khan was visually washed up in his humbling defeat to Terence Crawford on Saturday night and would be wise to call it a day on his career.

Before the fight, British fight fans gave Amir Khan no chance against what many would consider to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.  Therefore, it was only a matter of time before Khan hit the canvas. Amir Khan’s glass chin has always let him down throughout his career and it was obvious that this fight was going to be no different.

Khan’s last performance against Samuel Vargas back in September 2018 told us all we needed to know about the deterioration of Khan’s ability to mix it at the top level and therefore we could only view his fight against Crawford as just another attention seeking pay day.

Amir Khan has made a great career selling his chin to the highest bidder whilst also managing to win some world titles on the way.  However, fighters like Khan who solely rely on speed do not last long in the sport as this is always the first asset to leave a fighter.

In previous bouts Amir Khan has usually been ahead on the score cards before his glass chin eventually lets him down.  However, on this occasion Khan was outboxed, outgunned and outclassed from the opening bell.  Once Khan realised he had bitten off more than he could chew he opted to save himself from further embarrassment by using the low blow as a way out.

The paying faithful at the MSG where understandably unhappy with the manner of the stoppage with Khan himself stating that he would be open to a rematch. However it is doubtful Khan will put himself back in that position and may opt for one last attention seeking pay day against bitter rival and obsessed stalker, Kell Brook.
